In seinem Brief an Schönberg vom 29.5.1950 schickte Chemjo Vinaver neben der Textvorlage auch eine Melodie des Psalms mit: "In addition, I am taking the liberty to send along an old liturgical motif, traditionally applied to this psalm for generations. As you may know, these sacred airs of our oral tradition are very rare. Nowadays they are not found even in our synagogues, where the authentic chant has been replaced by inferior innovations. | I thought you might like this motif. However, whether or not you want to use it, is, of course, left entirely to your decision." Die Melodie ist nicht in die Komposition eingegangen.

Die Notenschrift ist von unbekannter Hand, womöglich von Vinaver selbst. Die Beschriftung "Vinaver" mit rotem Stift am oberen Rand stammt vermutlich von Richard Hoffmann. (Dennis Gerlach)
